This contains two designed waterfalls that provide a calm sound of splashing water while integrating the natural beauty of the context surrounding the water garden. For our , we began by choosing a high quality natural stone that would endure the elements of nature. Each stone was handpicked, even assembled, to create a beautiful flow of water through native plantings, down toward a small koi pond at a lower elevation. The resulting sound of water flowing down the rocks is very restful and turns an ordinary landscape into a paradise. One of the challenges was to establish an amenity that allowed the waterfalls to sit naturally in the existing topography. Our skilled landscape architects reviewed the water garden and strategically applied grading principles that shaped the land from a natural flowing transition from the top to the bottom levels. It was our ideal vision through the landscape mastering to ensure that it met our initial design vision and allowed adequate drainage and continual water circulation required to maintain the health of the pond land and surrounding flora. To further complement the waterfalls, we used a variety of native plantings that establish permanent beauty and color within the local climate to allow a vigorous use of all four seasons. The careful use of ornamental grasses, flowering perennials, and evergreen plantings complete a dynamic environment that encourages the exploration of the intermediate gaudiness of water movement among the flora; the use of strategically located soft lighting in the waterfall at night turns the water garden into a beautifully illuminated oasis. The completed landscape amazed our client and more than meets or explodes the vision that was anticipated.
