About This Project

The Kaplan Residence Pro Care Horticultural Services is thrilled to share a recent , The Kaplan Residence, centrally located in Carmel, Indiana. Pro Care was hired to develop a landscape design that would form an outdoor oasis architecturally appropriate to the home, yet would also be beautiful one that would allow and enhance the natural beauty of the local environment. The design team faced some challenges with the sloping landscape and existing mature trees needing careful highlighting to design the landscape. The design layout, functions, slopes, and proper drainage all needed to be taken into account as we developed areas of relaxation, family time, and outdoor play. The used a pleasing combination of hardscape and softscape features installed on the property. A local product stone patio made of Indiana limestone, provides a beautiful, functional and durable location for outdoor gatherings. Following that, a custom fire pit was used to allow family gatherings on a chilly evening under the stars. As part of the final plan, our landscape architects developed a mixture of native plants which included flowering perennials, ornamental grasses, and ornamental shrubs, to give the design interest and beauty throughout the seasons and as sustainable landscaping design. Organic mulch was used, not only to make the own site beautiful, but to help retain moisture and suppress weeds. A critical design factor was also lighting. LED fixtures were installed in a beneficial way to light pathways and highlight aspects of the new garden. The fixtures help to provide safety, but also help to allow outdoor enjoyment and engagement after sunset. In the end, the landscape was beautiful and provided the homeowner with exactly what they hoped. The residence provided a beautiful place for family gatherings and for enjoying the outdoors. The Kaplan Residence is a reminder of how Pro Care Horticultural Services can provide quality craftsmanship and innovative design to the greater Indianapolis area.
