Grotto Garden Designed by McCullough's Landscape & Nursery Located in the center of New Albany, the Grotto Garden is a beautiful showcase of McCullough's Landscape & Nursery's commitment to quality design, creativity, and attention to detail. This beautiful landscape converts a regular backyard space into a restful retreat combining natural beauty with exterior living space functionality. Located in the center of New Albany, the Grotto Garden is a beautiful showcase of McCullough's Landscape & Nursery's commitment to quality design, creativity, and attention to detail. This beautiful landscape converts a regular backyard space into a restful retreat combining natural beauty with exterior living space functionality. The Grotto Garden includes an inviting water feature that consists of a waterfall cascading into a koi pond drawing soft sounds throughout the space. Surrounding the water feature is a mixture of hand-selected river stones and native plants for an overall natural look and ease of maintenance. The team faced a challenge with uneven drainage on a sloped site, which required grading and drainage considerations to allow water drainage throughout the landscape. The pathway is designed using natural flagstone that draws the visitor into a lush planting of diverse native perennials ornamental grasses and flowering shrubs that bloom over the seasons. Seating areas created from reclaimed wood allow for cozy nooks to relax and be at peace with the landscape. Lighting was integrated into the design with some soft LED fixtures to highlight pathway safety and enhance the beauty of the water feature at night creating an inviting touch after sunset. Collaboration with the client was important to ensure the space they envisioned became a reality. As a result, the Grotto Garden has provided the intended relaxation and connection to nature that the client sought, while providing much more than anticipated. This provides a strong example of McCullough's desire to tie outdoor spaces to a sanctuary lifestyle enhancing the lives of residents of Bexley, Blacklick, Columbus, and beyond.
