Summary: MIDWEST MODERN McCullough's Landscape & Nursery is proud to present 'MIDWEST MODERN,' which showcases the seamless integration of modern design and the natural beauty of Ohio. Centrally located in Greater Columbus, MIDWEST MODERN is proof of our commitment to quality and creative thinking, working for clients in Bexley, Blacklick, Gahanna, and a number of other communities. The main feature of the is an amazing outdoor living space and custom-designed patio constructed out of locally-sourced bluestone. The blue stone is an attractive and practical way to provide a durable surface for gathering and eating outdoors. We also used a mixture of native plant material and modern hardscape to build interest, with accent stone borders and modern, clean planters that match the overall feel. Our landscape architects chose native Ohio plant material that is low-maintenance and drought-tolerant, ensuring that the outstanding beauty in this landscape can be maintained while still maintaining a low water usage footprint. The challenge with the was the unevenness of the property. Our experienced team meticulously graded the landscape, improving drainage, while sculpting a tiered visual experience in the landscape. Additionally, we also included a modern fire pit designed and built using fire-rated stone that provides a conversation area and draws one to the outdoor space at the end of the evening. Strategically placed LED-lighting lights up the fire pit area at night and draws attention to the curvatures and unique textures of the landscape. The final product is a stunning and beautiful use of an outdoor space that is both functional and modern. The client was extremely satisfied and pleased with the detail of the design, and how the hardscape and softscape blended so well together. 'MIDWEST MODERN' provides proof of McCullough's Landscape & Nursery tradition of skillful craftsmanship and innovative design while providing a unique landscape for the neighborhoods of New Albany, Upper Arlington, Powell, and beyond.
