About This Project

Bates Landscaping by Ventures Design Located in Bloomfield Hills, the Bates represents the design style and craftsmanship for which Ventures Design is known throughout the state of Michigan. This has transformed the residential landscape into a remarkably aesthetic, yet highly functional family outdoor space. The began with thoughtful site analysis that explored the unique conditions of the existing landscape. The team had to deal with site challenges consisting of uneven terrain and areas in the landscape with little sunlight. In response to the site conditions, we excavated tiered planting beds with natural stone sourced locally that provided stability and rustic character. The focal point of the design is a beautiful water feature with a waterfall cascading down to a koi pond constructed with durable, high quality materials to prolong the water feature's lifespan. Surrounding the pond, we selected plants that naturally occur in Michigan to promote biodiversity and reduce maintenance. Ferns, daylilies, and ornamental grasses were dimensioned and placed to offer a robust, seasonal backdrop throughout the seasons. To help with circulation, we created meandering pathways constructed from permeable pavers that provide effective drainage while remaining true to the surrounding environment. Cozy seating spaces with beautiful teak benches and fragrant blooms welcome family and friends to relax or socialize. The final outcome is a beautifully cohesive landscape that reflects the homeowner's style along with helping to increase property value. The Bates demonstrates the quality of work, innovation, and committed client satisfaction, resulting in happy homeowners with a new outdoor space. Whether entertaining family and friends or enjoying quiet evening moments, this landscape offers an opportunity for beauty and serenity.
