At the heart of the design is a tiered waterfall that flows over smooth river stones, producing a calming sound that immerses you in the natural world. We used durable, weather-resistant materials including locally sourced granite boulders and a selection of native plants to enhance the natural beauty of the landscape and embody sustainability. Topographically, this yard was a challenge, as it was uneven and we had to identify solutions for proper drainage and water flow for the waterfall. Downer Brothers Landscaping, Inc. developed a solution and implemented a skilled reshaping of the landscape that integrated both the water and the plants. The finished landscape has beautiful plantings that include attractive grasses and flowering shrubs that flourish in the waterfall's established microclimate. Additionally, the paths made from natural stone invite people to walk to the secluded retreat and included targeted lighting to highlight the waterfall. The client is very happy with a grand spectacle that not only enhances the home but creates a perfect retreat from daily life.
