This design was set in motion to create a warm and functional entryway that connected well with the existing surroundings. We started with a detailed assessment of the existing landscape and the clients' objectives. We selected top-quality materials for the design - a locally quarried bluestone walkway and hardy, low maintenance perennial plantings, which bloom at different times throughout the seasons. The new walkway layout provides a thoughtfully designed pathway leading visitors to the the entry door, while providing a solid base for possible decorative accents or additional features in the future. One of the challenges posed by the existing entry location was the uneven topography. Our team skillfully graded the entry area and established proper drainage for future water management. Not only did the grading provide function, it set the stage for thriving plant material, which would occupy the entry as well. To continue the aesthetic quality of the overall design, we incorporated custom-built raised flower beds, finished with a natural stone liner, providing a backdrop for blooming plants. Thoughtfully selected plants, including hydrangeas and ornamental grasses, add texture and colors to be enjoyed as seasons change and plant life matures. Our final touch was to deliver stunning outdoor lighting to accentuate the walkway areas and highlight the architectural features of the home. Lighting not only increased safety and accessibility in the evening, but also provided a warm welcoming glow of brightness.
