This beautifully integrates native plants and modern design to highlight the natural beauty of the home while creating a peaceful outdoor retreat. The began with an extensive site assessment of the unique topography and climatic conditions and challenges present. Drought tolerant plants were chosen to inform designs that uphold sustainability while maintaining verdant foliage all year long. Bougainvillea, jasmine and other fragrant and resilient palms were utilized to create layered visual interest shrub layers that allow for privacy without losing the beauty of the structure. An elegant hardscaping design is highlighted by the patio, made from custom travertine installed from a local supplier. The natural stone surface is complementary to the design of the home and ensures durability for entertaining and outdoor use. Decorative gravel pathways link many of the garden spaces, inviting guests into a variety of textures and colors. Concerns soil drainage required a mitigation plan involving site members; Parker-Yannette Design Group, Inc. utilized a trickle irrigation system, as well as two rain gardens incorporated into the general landscape plan, becoming integral functional and original features, while managing stormwater on site. The rain gardens not only addressed stormwater management but also supported biodiversity by attracting local wildlife. Most importantly, the final landscape successfully and harmoniously weaves into the residence's physical aesthetic, allowing the homeowners to enjoy and embrace the outdoors, while also providing a welcoming space for entertaining guests. The overall products utilized -plants, stone and gravel- were quality sourced, with attention to detail contributing to the clients delight in the transformed space.
