About This Project

Summary: The Maybeck Twin Randy Thueme Design Inc. is excited to showcase the Maybeck Twin landscaping , an exemplary transformation in the beautiful Mill Valley. This demonstrates the high quality and innovative design principles we strive for to complement the existing flora in the landscape. The Maybeck Twin is made up of both native plants and contemporary hardscaping, allowing for a dramatic yet peaceful respite in the landscape. High quality, natural stone pavers and sustainably harvested hardwood were used to create extensive decking in one seamless transition from inside living, out to an outside living room. A custom-built water feature becomes a focal point, incorporating a gentle trickle that draws attention while facilitating a pleasant ambience for the benefit of both the landscape and the homeowner, in addition to serving as an attraction for wildlife in the area. Naturally, we faced challenges, such as using an uneven site and drainage issues are plentiful. However, our team employed a simple grading solution that not only solved drainage issues but created layered garden beds to provided additional layering in the landscape. Ultimately, the was a whimsical retreat, providing the owners a true, outdoor living experience. Beautiful, layered greens, great seating areas and curves within the walk path create a space that promotes relaxation and observations of the surrounding areas. The client was very happy with the end result, guided their vision, and expressed how the blended beautifully with their home while providing a great escape from the busy world around them.
