The Sebastopol Hillside Residence is a representation of our relatively new commitment to quality design, craftsmanship, and imaginative places of outdoor living that seamlessly link the interior, landscape, and views. The consisted of a broad multi-tiered landscape that used locally sourced stone walls and pathways. The stone walls created a natural progression for guests to navigate the lush flora. A selection of a multitude of native plants served both for beauty and ease of maintenance and durability, allowing for an ideal ecological approach with no additional irrigation requirements of California's dry climate. Drought-tolerant species were also integrated into landscape as part of this commitment to ecological practices. The sloping topography posed a considerable challenge to the , which required a thoughtful process of planning and design response in the implementation of the . Our team competently strategized terraced levels to prevent soil erosion and create visual beauty. The result is a unique and beautiful natural flow of terracing levels and intimate spaces. The focal of the is the simply beautiful all natural flagstone patio that is both simply beautiful and invitingly comfortable. Moreover, the flagstone becomes an ideal space for gathering, entertaining, and enjoying views of the valley below. Soft landscape lighting was also embedded into the design to enhance the beauty of architecture and nature, altering the carefully curated use of the landscape from day to night. The final sincerely embodies both art and architecture, creating a unique place where every tone, line, and form, and texture creates a succinct characterization of thoughtfulness, tranquility, and connection to nature and the outdoor space.
