Tustin Hills Residence In the beautiful hills of Tustin, California, the Tustin Hills Residence, completed by Matthew Beehler of CBLD, serves as an example of creative landscape design and hands-on craftsmanship. This effectively integrates the natural topography and quality outdoor living spaces to provide the client with a retreat that fulfills their request for a tranquil paradise. At the core of the landscape, sustainable native plants were chosen for their aesthetic appeal and suitability to the local environment. Drought tolerant succulents and flowering shrubs were used to create a colorful composition that heightened the architecture while utilizing little water. Lush, textured stone walkways trail through the garden, utilizing materials sourced from the local area that imitate the context of the surrounding landscape. Visitors are invited into this rich retreat via the stone paths that stimulate their senses through vision and sound, which benefits from calming water features that both tranquillized and connected each space. One of the significant challenges of the was the uneven topography of the site. Matthew Beehler creatively addressed this by introducing tiered garden beds that improved drainage while providing a beautiful visual experience.
