Lighthouse Courtyard The Lighthouse Courtyard completed by Matthew Beehler | CBLD is an ideal example of combining style and practicality in an outdoor space. Located in the beautiful area between Newport Beach and Costa Mesa, this courtyard is an oasis between modern style and the calm luxury of nature. The design features a bold mixture of native, drought resistant plants carefully selected to thrive in the coastal climate and allows for reducing water usage. The site has beautiful succulents, bougainvillea, and ornamental grasses framing the courtyard to create a colorful tapestry of plants that change throughout the seasons. A handmade stone pathway made from locally sourced flagstone was added to showcase the vibrant greenery bringing visitors through the courtyard towards the lasting focal point the custom stone fire pit for sitting and warming. A challenge to the was navigating the uneven topography. The entire courtyard had to be leveled while keeping the natural slope for drainage to avoid water pooling. This enhanced both the aesthetics and functionality of the entire space. Additional irrigation was added to help maintain the sustainable nature of the courtyard, including drip systems, which allows for healthy plant growth and minimizes water waste. The result is a striking outdoor area that embodies the client's desires to create a peaceful courtyard for hosting events or enjoying a quiet evening looking up at the stars and the meticulous representation of design, materials, and all contributed to create a courtyard that enhanced the value of property and created an inviting experience for families and friends. The clients were euphoric with the execution of the design and how the Lighthouse Courtyard changed and elevate their outdoor experience. This strives to represent CBLD’s commitment to quality in landscaping.
