About This Project

Sanders Residence by Leifeste Landscape Design Located in Alamo Heights, the Sanders Residence was recently completely landscaped by Leifeste Landscape Design, a design firm known for their craftsmanship and attention to detail throughout San Antonio and its suburbs. This was geared towards improving the curb appeal of the home and creating an exterior space where the family could congregate and unwind. The design team meticulously developed a multi-layered landscape created from the juxtaposition of native plants and thoughtful hardscaping. There would be a charming stone pathway leading to a custom fire pit, making it the ideal location for evening gatherings. The patio was created from Texas limestone sourced locally, which really contributes to rustic charm with the added benefit of durability against the elements. Adding color all year round with minimal water consumption was key, and creating a great selection of vibrant native plants, including bluebonnets and red yuccas, demonstrated that goal. A drip irrigation system was introduced considering the challenges of the Texas climate, to promote a lush and colorful landscape throughout the season, while conserving water. Another highlight of the was adding a water feature that offered a focal point and attracted local wildlife to the space and contribute to the greater ecosystem. As design and build teams, we faced the challenges of durability with the existing topography of the yard, but through planning and creativity we were able to create terraced gardens adding to both durability and uniqueness in design. The landscape transformed into a balanced relationship between aesthetic beauty and practicality which the Sanders and their family love. They now have more usable space outside of their home where they can entertain and relax while still enjoying nature.
