Dunwoody Makeover by SHM Landscape: Recently, SHM Landscape completed the "Dunwoody Makeover" in Dunwoodythe largest landscaping we've completed to date. The Makeover at Dunwoody was a landscaping that enhanced the property, transforming its space into one with purpose and beauty. SHM Landscape serves a range of neighborhoods, including Alpharetta, Atlanta, Brookhaven, Buckhead, and the surrounding areas for the at Dunwoody in the metropolitan area we call home. This landscape and property enhancement began with site assessment and understanding the existing site and features on the propertythe nicest homes on the blockwith plenty of work that could make the property a featured outdoor space. The client was seeking a tranquil garden-style retreat, one that blended comfortably with the architecture of the home but also provided areas for relaxing and entertaining. The design incorporated native plantings, hardscapes, and inviting outdoor areas to fit the lifestyle of the client's family. Material selection was made with care and personalization to the homeowners, using natural stone for pathways, pavers for a patio area, and mulch that was eco-friendly for the garden beds. An obstacle facing the was the slope, which was graded to improve drainage and limit erosion. An effective cure to managing the slope was the tiered garden design that opened up some of the function of the space as well as the visual appeal of the landscape. The resulting outdoor space consisted of a warm fire pit with seating nearby, native perennial and ornamental grasses in full bloom, and a water feature that constructed a relaxing view and sound on the patio area. The end product exceeded the expectations of the homeowner, resulting in a natural yet inspiring new landscape that serves as a sanctuary for relaxing or entertaining.
