About This Project

Dry Rivers by Wildwood Landscapes + Design Located in the Bay Area, Wildwood Landscapes + Design is excited to share the 'Dry Rivers' , a landscape we know will change how our clients engage with the outdoors. We worked with folks in the Bay Area from Albany to Sausalito, to create this unique landscape with an emphasis on aesthetics but with practical solutions to their landscape function. The 'Dry Rivers' is anchored by a beautiful dry creek bed, made to act like water is naturally flowing through its length, that provides visual interest and drainage function. Locally sourced river rocks formed an engaging grooved path with views that guide the eye through the property. The dry creek's soft curves are complemented with regional native plants that are all drought-tolerant and low maintenance while supporting more natural ecosystems. A challenge we were faced with was the natural slope of the site, which created a potential for erosion. To address the slope effectively, and assure drainage was to be adequate to avoid pooling, our landscape team devised various grading techniques. Additionally, the clients and Wildwood collaboratively agreed upon seating areas made from and sustainably sourced timber, which adds to the ability to enjoy outdoor communion in the scenic setting of the dry creek bed. Upon stunning completion we ensured the needs of the clients, both in aesthetics and utility, were met. Ultimately, our clients received an outdoor escape extending the beauty of California outdoor living. The final product was an incredible practical and artistic landscape, with a visibly rewarded client. The work accomplished with the 'Dry Rivers' reaffirmed Wildwood Landscapes + Design's position in setting an industry standard for quality in landscape s throughout the Bay Area, utilizing all elements in every as an example of not just excellence, but transcendence of green stewardship.
