Summary: Modern Outdoor Living In the spring of 2018, Olander Garden Design completed a Modern Outdoor Living for clients in the Pacific Northwest, encompassing Bainbridge Island, Bellevue, and Seattle. The landscape design transforms outdoor spaces with a combination of tree contemporary style and functional outdoor living. The involved planning and designed a stunning array of features, such as a large cedar deck connected to a meticulously tended garden space. Bluestone pavers were used to create a highly visible patio, ideal for entertaining. Native plants were selected for their strength and low maintenance, while providing year-round aesthetic and support for wildlife. One of the 's challenges was converting a sloped site to a functional space. Olander Garden Design utilized tiered planting beds and retaining walls, using stone sourced locally, that respected the character of the area. This assisted in stabilizing the landscape and created an interesting visual form (for example, the highlight of the is the multiple bed levels). The final installation is a beautiful vision of contemporary style and nature that features ambient lighting, a conversational fire pit, and an outdoor kitchen with modern appliances that beg to be used. The homeowner was delighted with the , as the installation met their needs for both family gatherings and quiet evenings.
