Vibrant Architectural Design Concept

The Color Enhanced Architectural Concept revitalizes a 1970s-era split-level home on Lake Calhoun, transforming it into a vibrant, modern living space. Following the addition of a third story, Otogawa-Anschel was tasked with infusing color throughout the home, which had previously been dominated by uninspiring white walls. The result is a harmonious interplay of hues that not only modernizes the aesthetic but also enriches the overall ambiance of each room. The centerpiece of the design is a standalone fireplace, showcasing a unique chromatic palette that varies depending on the viewer's perspective. The side facing the lake features cool tones that echo the aqua and dark blue hues found in the slate surround, while the opposite side embraces warm shades that highlight the fireplace's rose and violet elements. This thoughtful approach to color creates a dynamic visual experience within the space. In the master suite, a striking adobe red wall, accented by a gold soffit and rich chocolate panel, serves as a bold anchor, contrasting beautifully with softer elements. Asymmetrical glass blocks flanking the bathroom vanity not only open up the area but also enhance the flow of natural light, which is gently diffused by the green glass, allowing the warm color palette to stand out. The playful mix of tangerine, pale green, and lemon yellow tiles in the shower adds a burst of synthetic sunshine, bringing life to the space while eliminating the flatness of conventional white tiles. The transition from the second to the third floor is an artful blend of shimmering yellow hues that appear to transform with the changing light, creating an engaging visual effect throughout the day. In the living area, a soft suede wall complements the stone fireplace and seamlessly transitions into large windows that frame breathtaking lake views. The dining room, adorned with vibrant colors, offers a striking contrast to the calm of the living room, showcasing the thoughtful design that respects both independence and harmony within the open-concept layout.
