To provide some background; this is situated in the vibrant Ravenna neighborhood and needed to overcome substantial grade changes along with beautifying the front of the property. Built with top-grade concrete and durable steel, our team smoothly completed a retaining wall that not only supports the essential structure but also acts as a centre piece in the landscape. Its durable and weather-resistant material will withstand the test of time and elements that the Pacific Northwest brings. The biggest challenge we had was the steep slope of the site; we had to engineer everything very carefully to make sure everything was stable, and the drainage occurred, Inc. We incorporated a drainage system into the wall to dissipate water and protect the adjacent landscape. This creates an end product that encompasses both qualities of form and function. The unfussy contemporary lines of the steel play well to the naturally textured concrete to give a beautiful point of difference to the overall profile of the property. We installed native plantings and decorative gravel to accompany the new retaining wall that act as an aesthetic feature while simultaneously helping to improve local biodiversity. The client was extremely happy with the final product, that was well blended with their existing landscape and commented on the professional approach of the Orion Rockscapes team.
