Shore Road Landscaping by Matteson Landscape Architecture The Shore Road , located in a beautiful seaside neighborhood, represents an incredible landscapes by Matteson Landscape Architecture that embraces the relationship of nature and design. Serving the communities of East Norwalk, Easton, Fairfield, Greens Farms, Greenwich, Redding, Southport, Weston, Darien, and Long Island and Westchester County, we were engaged to improve this waterfront property in a manner complimentary to its natural state. The began with an in-depth site assessment, where we measured the remarkable topography and pre-existing ecosystem. We provided the owners with our thoughtful selection of native plants to encourage biodiversity and sustainable practices. Densely planted ornamental grasses, many colorful flowering perennials, and coastal shrubs that feel well within their surrounding climates were selected for this purpose. Given our location on an eroding shoreline, we provided a series of responsibly sourced and exquisitely designed stone retaining walls. The construction of these walls not only provided structural stability, they provided contrasting terraces to be recognized within their surrounding landscape and provided settings for gatherings outside. The durable and elegant bluestone slabs used for patio and pathways were locally sourced as well. In the end, our client had a stunning outdoor space that rivaled its functional and aesthetic usage. The water feature provided both sound and tranquility and supported staple aquatic vegetation for mild interest, along with providing a place for waterfowl to rest. Our clients appreciated our commitment to craftsmanship, and how it reshaped their natural outdoor space into one that met their expectations.
