Strand at Manhattan Beach Outside InStyle is excited to present the finished landscaping at the Strand in Manhattan Beach, which embodies our commitment to quality and innovation in outdoor space design. Located along the beautiful coast, the expresses an aesthetic that connects natural beauty with modern design to enhance the colorful beach lifestyle. The features an intentional layout that combines native plants with refined hardscaping. We specified durable, environmentally responsibly designed materials such as reclaimed wood for seating areas and sustainably sourced stone paths to achieve beauty with longevity. Lush landscaping incorporates drought-tolerant plants such as colorful succulents or fragrant coastal grasses, which grow well in a seaside climate and conserve water. One of the challenges was dealing with a sandy saline site that required site-sensitive plant material and drainage systems. With expert direction, we were able to achieve an innovative and thoughtful irrigation system that promoted efficient water use while enabling the landscape to thrive. As a result, every fist plant flourished and provided year-round colors and textures. The end result is a stunning outdoor space designed to invite relaxation and connection. A magnificent ocean view terrace is complete with comfortable seats for sunset views of the beach, while winding paths weave visitors through playful languages and intimate spaces in gardens. These spaces are further enhanced with ambient lighting that accentuates the space and creates beautiful vibrant gatherings in the evenings. The client was thoroughly impressed with the transformation of their beachfront property, which elevated their outdoor living experience and added considerable value to their home.
