Historic Charleston Single c. 1870 Led by Linda Greenberg Landscape & Design, LLC, the 'Historic Charleston Single c. 1870' showcases the delicate balance between preserving the charm of Charleston's historic architecture and enhancing the landscape to provide an inviting outdoor experience. Located in the heart of Historic Charleston, the was focused on improving the property of a single house that has been well-preserved since the 1870s. The design incorporates native plants and lush greenery with hardscape elements that respect the architectural integrity of the house. We chose local bricks and cobblestones to construct a winding path that takes guests through a thoughtfully-designed garden overflowing with colorful azaleas, camellias and creeping thyme. The beautifully crafted wrought-iron gate welcomes guests and provides security while also providing a beautiful design element. One of the major challenges associated with the was working within the confines of the historical guidelines on-site and considering plant selection and landscape modifications. A close collaborative relationship with local preservationists permitted us to address these issues and continue work with historical regard on every element selected and designed. This dedication to detail allowed us to create a beautiful habitat that is a combination of old and new, reflecting the past but maintaining contemporary functionality. The final product showcases an incredibly beautiful landscape that promotes the property’s curb appeal and provides a serene retreat for the homeowners. Our clients were extremely pleased and commented on quality craftsmanship and historical authenticity.
