Party of Five by Coastal Concepts Our team at Coastal Concepts specializes in transforming patios, backyards and other outdoor spaces into stunning landscapes. Our latest little we dubbed Party of Five was an exercise of both craftsmanship and quality landscaping in Allenhurst, Asbury Park and beyond. The clients, a family of five, wanted an outdoor space for entertaining and relaxation but also felt that it needed a punch of color. They approached us with a vision and so, we created a multi-functional space, allowing five different zones to work together seamlessly, one for dining, one for lounging, one for play, one for gardening, and of course a water feature for that all-important tranquility. We started with thoughtful materials, pairing exquisite aesthetic with lasting strength. Custom-built, sustainable hardwood seating completes the patio area, flanked by stylish weather-smoothed beige pavers. Above the dining area we built a beautiful pergola with some lovely climbing plants climbing up it, providing shade and elegance. The property was uneven, which presented us with one of the more serious problems we had to face. The carefully cut terracing of the land interspersed with tiered gardens was meticulously graded by our teams and fitted with local stone retaining walls to solve both the drainage concerns and create points of focus in the visual landscape. The native plants were selected to withstand the coastal conditions with low maintenance, so the landscape would continue to thrive for years to come. The crown jewel that extends on this is the serene water feature that is actually a small pond containing a small waterfall, which not only provides a white noise effect but enables local wildlife to interact thus engaging the family with nature. We placed lush plantings throughout and subtle lighting to create a magical environment surrounding the pond for evening events. When the 'Party of Five' was completed, we had taken our clients by surprise. This seamless integration of functionality and aesthetics meant that they could host family get-togethers, a birthday or walk outdoors and have a park in their backyard.
