Before and After

'Before and After' by DSLD Land Management Company, Inc. At DSLD Land Management Company, Inc., we believe in transforming outdoor areas into breathtaking landscapes that add beauty and function to our clients' properties. For our next , we are introducing 'Before and After', in alignment with our brand identity of quality and craft in the growing communities of Alabaster, Birmingham and beyond. In this we completely reimagined a residential garden in Homewood that had a poorly designed landscape without strong plant selection. The client wanted to create an inviting outdoor area that complimented the architecture of the home, but also maximized usable outdoor space for family gatherings. We start any with a site assessment focused on soil, drainage and sun exposure to be confident that our design meets the local ecology needs in our design decisions. Once we assessed the site, we designed a space that would be functional in a challenging, sloped landscape by constructing a custom stone wall, and creating tiered garden beds with significant native perennial plant choices for visual appeal and seasonal interest. For plant selection, we were pleased to include a mix of colorful azaleas, hardy ferns and fragrant lavender, which are not only beautiful in spring and summer, but provide low maintenance. To encourage uses of the space with the lush, tiered garden beds, we included natural stone pathways that invite exploration, and we used exterior lighting to encourage use in the evenings. For our client, the final and overall transitions were incredibly satisfying. What was once a dull yard is now a vibrant backyard oasis begging family and friends to explore time outdoors in the lovely garden and backyard. With all the considered, from design to installation, quality materials, expert installation, we exceeded our clients' expectations with our thoughtful design assements, quality and installations.
