Gig Harbor Backyard Pond and Landscape by Brookside Landscape and Design Surrounded by the peaceful backdrop of Gig Harbor, the Backyard Pond and Landscape by Brookside Landscape and Design is a serene transformation of an ordinary space into a stunning outdoor retreat. Serving the many communities of the Kitsap Peninsula, our crew was committed to a high standard of quality, craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction. The design centers around a one-of-a-kind, custom-built pond that draws the eye into the landscape. The natural stone edging and gentle scaping of the waterfall act as a visually appealing anchor while inviting you to sit and enjoy the soothing, natural sounds of the water. We put the best materials into the pond including locally sourced stone, which also followed the practice of sustainability, and an ECO-friendly pond liner. One of the challenges we were met with in the design process was the overall grading of the space to accept the topography of the pond into the landscape design. Our team, while moving and determining the grading of the landscape, was also dealing with drainage issues specific to this site. Our team resolved this issue to keep the pond as a stable environment for aquatic life, but still appearing graceful to the eye. In returning to the plant selections, we were committed to the use of native plants in the design, which are ferns and flowering perennials. Their complementary textures offered increased visual interest, while also inviting local wildlife for food sources, furthering enjoyment for the homeowner. Adding to the garden space was a curved natural path of flagstone to allow guests to wander over to the seating area for enjoyment of the serene views. The established seating area is framed by ornamental grasses and and thoughtfully selected shrubs to provide seasonal texture and visual interest to the space. The soft glimmer of lights using LED fixtures enhances clubhouse usability by extending enjoyment into the evening light long after sunset. The determination to exceed our customer expectations turned this typical Gig Harbor backyard, into a backyard retreat for family gatherings, and private reflection.
