About This Project

Sylvan Lexington Situated in the lovely community of Lexington, the Melisa MacDonald- Landscape Architect design Sylvan Lexington elevates the contemporary definition of outdoor living space. This expansive private residential landscape was designed to intertwine function and nature, allowing for a welcoming retreat for relaxation and entertainment. The design incorporates a balanced layout with organic shaped stone paths created from locally sourced bluestone interconnecting lush native plant gardens. The selected perennials and ornamental grasses not only increase the site’s biodiversity but also provide vibrant colors and textures throughout the year. The water feature is stunning with its cascading waterfall feeding into a beautifully designed koi pond. This feature draws the eye and provides calming sounds to the landscape. One of the biggest hurdles in the was the inconsistent grade of the site. Melissa and her team used creative grading techniques to ensure a pleasing landscape with a level space. Melissa chose retaining walls made of natural granite that work into the design while providing stability. Sustainability was a core value in the from the selection of drought tolerant plants to a rainwater harvesting system to ensure proper irrigation needs. Permeable pavers were used for the driveway and patio spaces to further focus on sustainable design. The finished result is striking. The Sylvan Lexington landscape fulfilled the client's expectations and beyond, creating an animated and serene out door space. The level of craftsmanship and the design is a true tribute to Melissa MacDonald as a Landscape Architect to design spaces that inspire and endure for generations. This East Lexington is a one of a kind landscape design you won't see anywhere else is the Greater Boston area.
