About This Project

New Home Owner by Outerior Design Outerior Design was honored to be selected to complete the outdoor space for a new homeowner in Simpsonville, SC, and be firm in our local community of Five Forks, Fountain Inn, Greenville, and Mauldin! The 'New Home Owner' showcased our design capabilities and will assist the new homeowner in a beautiful outdoor and recreation space who can also entertain friends. The homeowners were looking for an outdoor space that was inviting, usable, and allowed for entertaining or just relaxing with a good book. Our team performed a complete analysis of the site and noted existing features as well as site characteristics to help us identify potential issues, including: grade changes across the lot, low sunlight areas, and extra sloping in some areas. Working with these issues allowed our team to be creative in our design to find both solutions and enhance the natural features of the property. We designed a tiered garden in the backyard with a mixture of native plants and other colorful annual plants for easy care and a vibrant updated outdoor space. Using high-quality locally sourced stone, our team crafted a custom stone pathway that winds through the garden to a fire pit build area with rustic fieldstone, complete with seating made of sustainable materials to gather around while enjoying the fire. To complete the effort, we approached landscape lighting as well - using fixtures to light the pathway, features in the garden, and create enchantment in the evening. Our team also had to ensure drainage in the backyard area, and we did that with a decorative rain garden that not only supported capturing rainfall and letting it drain, but also adds additional charm to the landscape. Overall, the was a great blend of charm and usability for this family and our team ended up exceeding their expectations! The new homeowner was thrilled with their new outdoor space, which has become an extension of their home, and stayed true to their family style.
