The Queen Anne Residence, completed in 2002, showcases a masterful blend of modern design and thoughtful renovation, transforming a 1950's modern house into a striking urban dwelling. Situated on the picturesque north side of Queen Anne Hill in Seattle, this project encompassed an extensive renovation of 1,050 square feet, alongside the addition of 1,250 square feet of new living space. Designed for a professional couple, the project reflects a fresh perspective on urban architecture, emphasizing scale and proportion. The renovation introduced bold colors, innovative materials, and diverse textures while maintaining the integrity of the original structure. The exterior retained its original Roman brick and modern windows, which were thoughtfully complemented by custom drop siding milled from clear cedar, matching the texture of the existing brick base. This thoughtful choice not only enhanced the aesthetic but also contributed to the home's cohesive design narrative. The addition of a second story dedicated to bedrooms, bathrooms, and dressing areas significantly increased the home's functionality, catering to the needs of its inhabitants.
