Located within the scenic town of Summerfield, the design of this outdoor retreat aims to meet the dual purposes of relaxation and entertaining. The highlights of this include an expansive, custom-designed patio using durable, environmentally sustainable pavers that speak to the homes and surrounding landscape. The superior materials selected will fulfill the expectation of durability and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the space. To complement the patio, a selection of native plants along with flowering perennial plantings were purposefully placed to create an enticing space filled with greenery and life. Low-maintenance shrubs and ornamental grasses were chosen and positioned (to provide year-round interest) requiring minimal upkeep for the homeowner's enjoyment. One challenge that we encountered in creating this design was the slope of the property, with soil drainage and avoidance of pooling water. The whole grading and drainage allowances had to be considered for the outdoor space's beauty, while not complicating physical space below functional/outdoor site conditions. Our team navigated through this challenge expertly, utilizing best practices when developing a site drainage strategy that addresses the function of the space without compromising site aesthetics. As an added design bonus, we included ambient lighting in an effort to add ambience, other consider to outdoor dining celebrations. In the end, the completed design is an awesome back yard retreat that met the clients high expectations and the deliverables of quality craftsmanship. The clients were excited with their outdoor living space which also serves as a beautiful backdrop for family gatherings and barbeques in the summer months.
