About This Project

Dream Backyard The 'Dream Backyard' , executed by Rue Group, Inc. under the leadership of Kathryn Rue, Landscape Architect, embodies outdoor style and function for a sophisticated client in the Edison community of Yorba Linda. The extensive landscaping covered 2,500 square feet of adding valuable outdoor space, seamlessly integrating nature and modern living. This unique showcases custom hardscapes, including a prominent natural stone patio that serves as a gathering space. We used flagstone sourced from local stone yards and used for its earth tones, uplifted by the use of modern materials to create a warm, advanced style. Surrounding the patio is a custom functional fire pit, built with pavers from an artisan supply store, becoming a central gathering point for families and friends to warm hearts and conversations during the evenings. To give this space a sense of lushness through native plants and perennial flowers with low water use and seasonal colors, Rue Group designed planting areas to frame all sides of the patio . Flowering shrubs for texture were intermixed with ornamental grasses and native plants welcoming wildlife while adding a sense of atmosphere and ecosystem. Finally, we installed a complete new irrigation system that ensured surfaces and plant dimensions shared the water use across the elements. One of the unique challenges on any involves the slope of the territory implemented into the overall build. Our team countered this by examining the slope and constructing a hillside scale of planters, which aided other areas stabilizing the soil while creating levels of greenery across the slopes. This elevated the visual aesthetics of the backyard while maximizing usable spaces for gardening and relaxation. The 'Dream Backyard' revitalizes stunning aesthetics, functionality, and overall sustainable design. The thrilled client is now enjoying their dream of gathering space with family and friends, with space that evolves into the well-designed oasis they envisioned.
