About This Project

Mallory Oasis Hay Hill Services is excited to present “Mallory Oasis,” a landscaping that turned a private residence into an oasis in Columbia, SC. Our team collaborated with the homeowners to create a balance between functionality and beauty, providing a restful outdoor space that was their own. The work included native plantings, including azaleas, ornamental grasses, and flowering shrubs. All of the plantings were selected for their success in the native climate and added to the biodiversity. We incorporated natural stone paths along with a flagstone patio of locally-quarried flagstone which added visual interest, durability, and rustic charm while remaining in harmony with the property. A major hurdle in the implementation of the was the slope of the property. Grading for drainage to prevent erosion and manage excess surface flow was required for the transitions on the slope. Our crew successfully graded the site and engineered a terraced garden using reclaimed timber retaining walls to serve as both a site solution and an aesthetic feature. We included an intimate water feature, as requested by the homeowners. The tranquil water feature idea was made into reality, featuring a waterfall with a koi pond on the back side. The design within the landscape created a soothing environment for the homeowners, as well as an aesthetic experience. Low-voltage outdoor lighting was employed to highlight the landscape features and create a safe space after dark. The outcome of Mallory Oasis thrilled the clients with a beautifully landscaped backyard that adds to their property value and provides an escape from the everyday.
