McDonald The McDonald , completed by Michaelangelo's Sustainable Landscape & Design, exemplifies our ability to create outdoor space(s) that are sustainable, functional, and beautiful. Located in Alpharetta, this is a perfect example of the use of native plants, hardscape features, and sustainable practices, all working together to combine the homeowners' vision with our mission. First, we created a layered landscape that encourages biodiversity and enhances the property’s inherent beauty. The design includes drought-tolerant native plant species to minimize watering and upkeep. Colorful flowering perennials, grasses, and evergreen shrubs were chosen for the durability to handle the local climate, which of course ranges across our service areas of Atlanta, Duluth, and Sandy Springs. A highlight of the McDonald is the gorgeous stone path that meanders through the property, made of sustainably sourced natural bluestone. The stone complements the lush vegetation beautifully, while providing an organic contrast that invites people to journey through the garden. Our talented craftsmen were able to design the path in a manner that created a smooth transition from the house to the outdoor living spaces, overcoming some challenges presented by sloping ground, by utilizing leveling techniques. Also incorporated was a rain garden that is designed to handle water runoff during storm events and contribute to the overall sustainability of the property. This feature meliorates the landscape while giving wildlife a multitude of vegetation options to call home. The attention to detail and quality was a priority for every piece of work throughout the parcel and we made sure it would be executed properly. The end result is a stunning landscape that represents not only the desires of the McDonald family but also benefits the local ecosystem. At the final reveal, it was clear our client as gobsmacked and can now enjoy this outdoor space that represents their lifestyle and values.
