Sweet Smiling Landscapes Contemporary Food Forest Sweet Smiling Landscapes is excited to present, The Contemporary Food Forest, a based in the heart of Santa Barbara, that establishes a new model of landscaping to our clients with an interests in sustainability. Including the communities of Goleta, Mission Canyon, Montecito, Summerland, Toro Canyon, Ojai, and Ventura, this demonstrates our values of sustainability and modern landscaping designs. The Contemporary Food Forest is a culmination of aesthetics and utility. The food forest incorporates extensive varieties of fruit trees, and perennial vegetables that use native plants that grow with our coastal climate. As designers, we carefully chose drought-tolerant species such as figs, citrus, and stone fruits, to bail out a large harvest throughout what is anticipated to be multiple seasons and time periods of the same harvest are cultivated; without sacrificing our water resource limits. One major design and sustainable landscaping challenge posed to our crew was the variance of the site topography. We individually and accomplished by creatively developing a concept to budget to manage drainage along with sunlight - drainage and sunlight to the plant material and in that not only created but work after natural material had been created as elements that enhanced visual appeal and maximize the growth opportunity for each vegetative variety plant. The was subject to thoughtful layout that invited community and sociability while engaging with nature. In this specific to the design inspirations we thought of, no were overlooked, such as the gathering place under a large shady oak tree at the center of the space, raised vegetable beds from reclaimed wood, and herb spiral way as functionality and provide intrigue for our clients to interact and engage with the food source. Alongside the site was designed using permeable materials to create pathways that allowed rainwater to direct back into the living system. The end results of the construction were aesthetically stunning food forest and continued spatial remit within our client’s imagination and enchanted ideas food. They engaged their clients through the process reflecting back while enhancing a lifestyle of sustainable living. The is a culmination of traditions and values for artisan quality, craftsmanship, functional thought, and style in the creation of built spaces that can build symbiotic relationships while creating beauty, and functional life spaces, to add to the natural beauty of the Santa Barbara region.
