A Garden that Evokes Harmony Among the Elements Cambium Inc. has recently completed one of its most beautiful s in the heart of Bellevue. This landscape is a true expression of serenity and balance, both of which invite the beauty of nature into a harmonious retreat. The design of a space that consists of hydrologic features, lush plantings and ways of natural stone effectively coalesces into a peaceful environment that depicts the delicate balance between earth, water, air and fire! A review of the existing site conditions started out with a complete site analysis so that we fully understood the needs and desires of our clients. There were certain challenges that we faced in the course of this ; including the slope of the site which led to maintenance concerns as they related to drainage. An existing hardscape feature also existed which required us to successfully incorporate it into the new features of the garden. Our crew employed the highest quality local materials available, i.e. reclaimed granite boulders (Durham granite was used!) and sustainable wood species in the decking to effect economy and durability together with environmental concerns. The focal point of the garden is a koi pond, which is a serene body of water that is surrounded by plant materials which are recommended in part to support the surrounding and local wildlife. As an additional advantage there are sounds of falling water which are soothing and peaceful. Walks of natural stone lead the visitor via a meandering route clearly defining several spaces or room characteristics within the garden, each with its corresponding separate theme, i.e. perennial flowers, scented herb, zen-like meditation corner, etc. Sustainable practices were incorporated throughout the , e.g. drip irrigation for the conservation of water was utilized in order to effect proper growth of the carefully selected plant materials. The result? A stunning landscape which our customers have completely enjoyed and which represents an oasis of peace for the community that surrounds it.
