European-Feel Courtyard by Jacobs Grant Design Ltd. Jacobs Grant Design Ltd. has transformed an ordinary outdoor space in the heart of Upper Arlington into a stunning European-Feel Courtyard, a calming oasis that is a visual combination of sophistication and charm. This features cobblestone pathways arranged in a very thoughtful manner, reminiscent of a small European pedestrian street, that invites you to walk and explore the landscape of various plants. The focal point of the courtyard is an elegant stone fountain made from natural limestone; the fountain's sound creates a tranquil centerpiece with the sound of the water. Around the fountain we used several perennial plants, including lavender, boxwood, and ornamental grasses, that are applicable to our local climate but also provide year-round interest. One of the major difficulty of this was the very uneven topography, that required intricate grading to properly level the foundation of our courtyard. Our team also carefully planned plumbing and drainage to avoid water-collecting; not only to protect the courtyard and landscaping, but to also protect the materials and plants for years to come. The finished is a beautiful space; one, that adds a stunning visual to the property, but is also functional for relaxing and outdoor entertainment! The client was thrilled with the new courtyard, stating it exceeded their expectations and has become their favorite space!
