About This Project

Ponte Vedra Beach Dune Restoration Cynthia Burns Landscape Design announces the completion of the newly developed 'Ponte Vedra Beach - Dune Restoration' - a preservation designed to restore this coastal jewel to its native beauty and ecological health. We are excited to share this which is designed with the conscientious landscaping practices we like to focus on, right in the heart of Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach, Ponte Vedra Beach, Atlantic Beach, and San Marco. This aimed at restoring the fragile dune ecosystem that plays an important role in coastal erosion and storm surge buffering. We hand-selected all native plants species, such as sea oats, beach elder, and dune sunflower to improve biodiversity and withstand harsh coastal conditions. We created an ideal environment for native flora and fauna by using eco-friendly materials like biodegradable jute matting, which helped us stabilize the soil and stop the likelihood of erosion. Our major challenge was to ensure that we added to the dune structure with the minimum disturbance to the plants and wildlife already there. Some of these challenges included environmental considerations that we planned for alongside our environmental specialists and consultants, and we created restoration that would fit the natural landscape. The end product being a beautiful and colourful dune system, which not only enhances the coastal vista but also strengthens the ecological integrity of the region. The transformation was pleasing to clients, who ended up with a lush green space where community members can bitch over a beer whilst learning coastal ecosystems.
