Back Yard Patio with Fire Pit via The Outdoor Living Company Located in scenic La Plata, our most recent client was a makeover of their back yard - the 'Back Yard Patio with Fire Pit.' While never an unpleasant space, it was underutilized, until we transformed their vision for an outdoor oasis into a physical reality. The Outdoor Living Company specializes in high-quality landscape and hardscape solutions with a focus on our community and surrounding areas, including Bel Alton, Waldorf, and Northern Virginia. After an in-depth consultation with the clients to review and understand their plans for the space, we discussed a patio for family gatherings, a fire pit for fall evenings and, of course, landscaping to tie together their vision and to add to the natural beauty of their yard. A sloped property presented challenges, but we engineered retaining walls using natural, thick stone to provide structural integrity and visual purpose. We used high-quality pavers to create their patio that blend functionality with durability and durability with timeless beauty. These pavers provide them with a surface for hosting cookouts with family or sharing intimate fires with friends. We built a simple and modern fire pit and included seating around the fire pit to allow enough space for their family and friends to gather around the warmth of it on cooler evenings. Our clients requested a low-maintenance space and we included several native plants that will enhance the aesthetics of the hardscape as well as provide colorful fauna for local biodiversity's sake. We took into consideration the climate and chose plants which would flourish in the local climate while also preserving color year-round. Ultimately, the is now a stunning outdoor living space which matches our clients' vision of enhancing their outside living area with functionality, usefulness and beauty.
