About This Project

Floating Steps by Outdoor Ink, LLC Recently, Outdoor Ink, LLC designed and built a contemporary landscaping concept titled "Floating Steps" to enrich the natural characteristics and usability of an outdoor space in Nashville. Outdoor Ink, LLC serves the communities of Belle Meade, Brentwood, Forest Hills, Franklin, and Leiper's Fork, among others. The Floating Steps are designed as a striking pathway that connects different levels in the landscape. The Floating Steps features a series of Floating Steps made of locally sourced natural stone. These provide an aesthetic appeal while being durable and sustainable. The stones were hand selected and arranged to reflect the natural contours of the landscape, allowing for a fluid transition from a vibrant garden into a backyard oasis. A primary challenge of this is the sometimes-mountainous terrain. These challenges required thoughtful planning and engineering to design and build a stable Floating Step track that has visual appeal. The expert craftspeople at Outdoor Ink, LLC utilized unique techniques to level the steep gradient without removing native plant life. Our forms built were developed to preserve and maintain much of the existing vegetation while reducing any impact on native ecosystems. The final product exceeded all expectations. The Floating Steps provide a fluid guide through the landscape that provides access points to all aspects and is also an enticing invitation to explore the plantings and water. The client was elated with the outcome of their garden renovation. They even specifically mentioned that their Floating Steps became their favorite feature in their outdoor space to be used for lazy days or guest gathering.
