This creatively converted a standard residential backyard into a magical outdoor retreat located in the heart of Valencia. We started by evaluating the propertyits environmental challenges such as the prevalence of uneven terrain, and some of the plot experiencing limited sunlight. In order to fix these problems, we designed a multi-tiered garden utilizing a series of natural stone retaining walls. This made the look more aesthetically pleasing and gave it a key structural frame that could hold vast flower beds full of native flowers that will flourish in Valencia climate. We used a wide selection of materials, such as very durable pavers for the large patio area that directly ties into a custom built fire pit the ultimate gathering space for family and friends. Additionally, the landscape has been lined with low-voltage LED lighting which not only makes the plants and hardscape features visually pop, but also adds some warmth when family and friends are out enjoying the property during the evening hours. The custom water feature part of the Alcid is a standout design element that was created to be a focal point and also provide peace and relaxation through sound to home dwellers. The materials we chose were to compliment the natural landscape but also to create a maintenance free environment for the homeowners. We battled through issues such as drainage and ensuring that we selected the best plants for areas of the property that had varied sun exposure! These hurdles were met by our professionals with creative and functional solutions in the form of a drain at strategic points and a carefully considered planting scheme that made best use of the opportunities within the yard. The Alcid is beautiful, and functional, one more great space to live and entertain outdoors. Their landscape is carefully developed, beautiful and significantly increases the value of their home.
