Shawnee Wooded Retreat: A Beautiful Collaboration Between Nature and Design by Lorax Design Group The 'Shawnee Wooded Retreat' by Lorax Design Group, located in Shawnee, is a place that takes landscaping to a new level of beauty and design. This tranquil getaway was designed to preserve the beauty of the native environment while providing the homeowners with a serene escape. Ecological sensitivity was addressed by using mostly native plants that may be better adapted to thrive in the area's climates and may attract local wildlife, injecting vibrancy into the landscape. A beautiful stone path, composed of locally-sourced flagstone materials, wound throughout the lush gardens for an exploratory journey for visitors. The permeable paver used along the driveway provides rainwater management as an environmentally friendly solution, while also generously contributing to the elegance of the entry. One of the difficulties presented with this was the steep slope of the residents' lot. Lorax Design Group focused on designs that allowed for a tiered garden that took advantage of natural boulders along the way to hold the landscape together and add character. This creative solution allowed for the inclusion of an adorable water feature as a point of interest that sends gentle sounds of flowing water throughout the site. The end product is a beautiful outdoor oasis that feels like a natural extension of the wooded area surrounding it. This was gratifying in that the clients were thrilled with the transformation and reported that this beautiful backyard oasis would be a blessing to host family gatherings or enjoy a quiet evening outside under the stars. With careful attention to detail and a strong level of craftsmanship, Lorax Design Group designed Shawnee Wooded Retreat, creating a lasting landscape that reflects the best of nature and resident's intentions.
