Terraced Garden Paradise The recent Terraced Garden Paradise demonstrated how The Garden Angels Landscape Design & Consulting’s priority and key belief in quality and creativity are reflected in all the of the . Located in the heart of Salem, this did have its challenges due to the slope of the backyard, and concerns soil erosion. However, we were able to navigate these through a series of elegant and practical terraces using locally sourced natural stone retaining walls, not only enhancing the beauty but also added structural integrity. The design included the combination of an array of native and flowering perennials and shrubs, placed in a way to ensure year-round color and interest, when native plants go dormant. There was even the addition of a wood, reclaimed path meandering its way through the native plantings that would cause the least disturbance to the soil structure and land. To ease the storm drain issues an irrigation system would be installed to ensure the continued growth of the garden, while also preserving the environment by conserving water. It was a real team effort from all of us at The Garden Angels, as we rolled with the punches over challenges including disturbed land from the unlevel terrain and tight access. The finished product is a beautiful terrace garden and living space inviting one for relaxation and enjoyment, including new sitting spaces and a fire pit area for gather evenings.
