Recent s Mercer Island Waterfront Residence Known for its architecturally authentic landscape design, Folia Horticultural + Design has just wrapped the of a lifetime: a quintessential waterfront residence beautifully blended into its Mercer Island surroundings. This is a perfect marriage between the home and the views of Lake Washington, where the building form relates to its surroundings and adds and carries a high level of functionality and curb appeal. Terraces are large and paved with basalt stone from a few kilometers away that, in addition to forming a durable and beautiful surface, connects indoor with outdoor. Native ferns and flowering perennials are staples in a vibrant tapestry of color throughout the seasons while ensuring increased biodiversity in the local ecosystem. The selection of drought-resistant plants was another critical component, making it a sustainable and low-maintenance solution for the homeowners. The site slope was one of the key challenges we faced in the . In response, they built tiered above-ground garden beds that climbed the hill instead of marching down it, creating visual interest, limiting the erosion of soil in heavy rain, and making it easier for a wider variety of people to tend them. The irrigation system caters to each plant in the garden as per its needs while also conserving resources. At the heart of this is a gorgeous outdoor living space, including a stone fire pit and seating area perfect for gathering. We oriented this space to provide lake views for the homeowners while they were able to enjoy the sounds of water as they watched the sun set. The end product also gave the client a fantastic return on their investment and beyond changing the space into a luxury getaway it blended in beautifully with the environment. Meticulously detailed by Folia Horticultural + Design maintained both a playfully functional and beautiful landscape and continues to elevate our position as a premier Seattle landscaper.
