Midwest Ranch by R. Youngblood & Co. Situated in the Midwestern aesthetic, 'Midwest Ranch' by R. Youngblood & Co. is the perfect marriage of rustic elegance and modern landscaping practices. Serving affluent clients in Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms, Birmingham, and beyond, our team was tasked with turning a large ranch property into an enchanting outdoor space. This involved reworking more than driveways, dumps, and lawns, all with the common goal to create inviting outdoor rooms that fit into the natural landscape and add usability and sustainability. A major feature of the outdoors was a custom stone patio made of locally-sourced bluestone that serves as an inviting gathering space for the family. Our installation of native perennials and ornamental grasses surrounding the patio adds beautiful colors throughout the season, while promoting sustainability. Despite the underlying aims, the property naturally challenges these initiatives with uneven terrain and functional solar exposure. Our trained team understood the natural slope of the property and terraced the property to establish tiered gardens. This added to the aesthetic of the property while ensuring properly directed drainage, soil health, and viable planting areas. Well-placed, decorative boulders and river rock paths were used to direct site water flows, and the features added texture and visual interest to the property as well. In keeping with the rustic theme, ro-ro wood ran the perimeter of the property, while a rustic pergola was built to create character and shade at the outdoor dining area. Additionally, a natural filtration koi pond was included to capture and attract local wildlife. Overall, 'Midwest Ranch' has effortless beauty and functionality that delights the client while reflecting their lifestyle and values. R.
