About This Project

Bramble by Sweet Smiling Landscapes Situated in the peaceful hills of Montecito, Bramble is an example of the talented workmanship of Sweet Smiling Landscapes. This landscaping was created to allow for an outdoor space that is engaging and functional while relating to the natural beauty of the site. The utilized local native drought tolerant plants that would meet the needs of the ecosystem while limiting the use of water. We selected varieties of California poppies, succulents, and vanilla scented sage to thrive under local climatic conditions. Locally sourced stone was used to build the walkways and the retaining walls emphasizing sustainability while achieving a rustic character to the landscapes. One of our main challenges was working with the exposed topography on the property. The solution involved enhanced grading and the design of fluid transitions of the elevations. Gradually sloped terraced garden beds were meticulously crafted as part of the access solution while visually entertaining the landscape design as well. The blend of curved walkways, intimate seating, and the colorful blurb of planting make for an amazing landscape overall. Tranquility is added to the experience of the landscape with a water feature that utilizes natural stone and a piece of carved stone as a fountain. The homeowners were thrilled with the outdoor experience that Bramble provided, while equally appreciating the thoughtful connection to natures elements and the functional application of natures materials. Sweet Smiling Landscapes has accomplished another thoughtful quality for the benefit of landscape quality in Goleta, Mission Canyon, and beyond.
