Our team tackled the challenge of transforming a typical yard into a calm outdoor area that relates to the architecture of the house but also offers a relaxing and enjoyable area for gathering with friends. At the heart of the is an extensive multi-level patio of natural, high-quality stone selected to speaking of the components of the scale. We added custom seating walls with glowing integrated lighting to provide warmth in the evenings when most gatherings take place. Here, the abundant green was enhanced with a carefully curated palette of native plants requiring minimal maintenance and providing a colorful seasonal display. The yard had plenty of challenges, one being the steep topography. Our team responded by using tiered gardens to break up the slopes to provide visual variation as well as access. We also wore good soil applied a full fledged drainage so that water does not flow towards the landscape and that will deform the land and cause soil erosion. The end result, quite frankly, is remarkable. The formerly unwieldy Leawood Backyard is now a peaceful Water Feature that includes visual beauty but also auditory comfort you’ll enjoy the sound of running water while entertaining with guests, as well as the sounds of nature when enjoying the outdoors plus the added local wildlife that the feature attracts. The client is over the moon with the transformation and couldn't have asked for two better designers Desmond refers to the plant-forward space as a reflection of 'luxury for life,' while Andrew notes how it's improved the street appeal of their home, too.
