Summary of Dr. Dan's Landscaping & Architectural Design: Small Backyard Renovation Located in the center of Virginia Beach, Dr. Dan's Landscaping and Architectural Design's 'Small Backyard Renovation' converted an unused outdoor area into a sanctuary, illustrating the artistry and of Dr. Dan's Landscaping & Architectural Design. The commenced with a thorough consultation to discuss the client's vision, which was to design a relaxing retreat that can be enjoyed or enjoyed with friends and family. The small area presented both a challenge and an opportunity to be creative with the design process. Functional use of the backyard space would have to be achieved, with design and aesthetics considered equally. Our team designed a multi-level deck out of sustainably sourced cedar that effectively embodies the natural surrounding environment while accommodating the client’s needs for dining and gathering space outside. We enhanced the gathering experience with a custom fire pit surrounded by seating made from natural stones, creating a centerpiece for gathering with friends and family. We also selected native plants that provide living color and texture throughout the year, which are drought-tolerant, low maintenance, and perfect for low maintenance in the Virginia Beach climate. The wild river rock pathways instilled an atmosphere that increases interest and guides the eye through the space while providing a way to facilitate drainage. The included outdoor lighting for nightly features, which highlights unique landscaping features that allows the backyard to appear magical after dusk. Once the was complete, the client was ecstatic with the final that embodied an overall level of beauty, which was functional and reflective of the client’s lifestyle.
