About This Project

Bay Side Landscape 'Bay Side Landscape', completed by Dr. Dan's Landscaping & Architectural Design in beautiful Virginia Beach demonstrates superior artistry and craftsmanship. The design achieves and beautiful balance between nature and functional design resulting in an oceanfront oasis. The started by conducting a thorough site analysis to create a landscape suited to the specific coastal environment. We had to take into consideration several challenges with the sandy soil conditions and salty water exposure, which informs our plant selection, requiring hardy, native plants. In the end, the design features green and lush, drought-tolerant plants, such as ornamental grasses and perennials that bloom beautiful flowers consistent with coastal elements. With quality materials, we build a multi-tiered wall assembled using natural stone, with some sourced locally. Not only does the stone provide a quality and fairly permanent construct to establishing terracing, it was design to meld with the surrounding nature. The piece features a flagstone meandering pathway navigating visitors through the plantings and hardscape providing interest and showcasing the clear design intent. Towards the completion of the space, we constructed a custom fire pit surrounding by natural stone, creating a cozy place to gather, reminisce, and explore community identity through. Additionally, a sophisticated irrigation was installed, creating an opportunity to save water resources while promoting plant health, and lighting was designed into the space allowing individuals to explore fauna and the garden ambiance after sunset. In the end, 'Bay Side Landscape' fulfilled and even exceeded our client's expectations, by providing them an oceanfront oasis celebrating the character and quality of Virginia Beach, as quality as the design laid out. 'Bay Side Landscape' is an a stunning representation of Dr. Dan's Landscaping & Architectural Design's commitment to quality, creativity, and exceeding client expectations realized in one meaningful space.
