We are excited to share our newest , the 'Side-yard Patio // Stormwater Management' landscape on the outskirts of Omaha featuring work both by the homeowner and by Kinghorn Gardens. This beautifully combines aesthetics with function, providing an outdoor oasis while also managing stormwater runoff. We started with a site analysis key problems such as slope and existing drainage problems (where water was trapped in the yard and pooling). To mitigate these issues, we constructed a multi-level flagstone patio made from local sourced bluestone pavers that will both hold up over time and meld into the surrounding environment. Its patio is now a great entertaining area for family and friends, with steps, bose sound speakers, built-in seating, and luminous ambient light enhancing evenings too! We built a chain of rain gardens that included native species to filter excess water and add color to the landscape and draws birds, pollinators, and other organisms we wanted to attract. Good permeable pavers were used to promote natural drainage where rainwater can penetrate into the ground, instead of flowing away. Our talented team solved challenges like coordinating new utilities and ensuring that new elements met local code requirements throughout the life of the . Here we have a beautiful and sustainable side-yard transformation that gives our clients a sense of joy as they step outside, while their enhanced outdoor experience is a walk away!
