Water-Wise Landscapes: Drainage by Nature One Landscape Design Nature One Landscape Design completed the recently transforming a section of our client property with a new aesthetic as well as solving water management issues on the property. With that in mind, our team was tasked with putting together a complete drainage system that would be tailored to the specific topography of the clients property located in Alabaster, Birmingham, Brook Highland and beyond! A detailed consultation kicked off the to determine the current drainage challenges found throughout the yard, such as water pooling and erosion that could put the landscaping & foundation of the home at risk. With the use of high quality materials such as perforated drainage pipes, gravel, and natural stone, we designed a drainage feature that moved water away from the trouble areas. Part of the challenge here was already having plant beds and hardscape features in this area. The installation of the new drainage system required preservation of mature trees and shrubs at the site and our experienced team utilized innovative techniques to achieve this. The placement of discreet French drains and dry wells served to channel water effectively with little impact to the design of the landscape. When it was finally completed, it was nothing short of revolutionary. We reassured our client that not only would they have a working drainage system, but their new outdoor space would benefit from the integration of aesthetic features, including decorative stone borders and plantings that thrived in their new conditions. Not only did this assist with water flow but it also added value to the property, as we pride ourselves in quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
