About This Project

Minimalism in Newport Beach We are so happy to share with you this transformational landscape by Dale Waldo Landscape Architecture we call ‘Minimalism in Newport Beach,’ which is meant to give you the sense of calmness and harmony through simplicity. Located in the scenic context of Newport Beach, this represents the idea of simplicity taking full advantage of the natural beauty. Our design team carefully selected minimalist forms to capture the spatial openness of the design through the use of native drought-tolerant plants including succulents and ornamental grasses. Natural stone pathways made from local material blend right into the landscape with an organic flow into them verses distracting the eye from the landscape by forcing a rigid pathway out of pavestones. Beneath the surface: Drainage and ground stability were just some of the challenges we faced with an undefined site. Terracing the beds solved the functional concerns and created visual interest the eye now travels at different levels across the landscape. Sustainable teak is also incorporated into the design of garden seating, strategically placed in various areas of the garden for quiet contemplation under this idyllic setting. A simple but sublime water element that creates natural spring-like sounds helps to contribute to a zen-like presence that reinforces the minimalist nature of the . These elements combined created a breathtaking view that our client loved to see while enjoying their low maintenance, functional outdoor space. Our dedication of craftsmanship and design is demonstrated in ‘Minimalism in Newport Beach’, where the built environment complements its coastal nature, while allowing a respite for its occupants. Today, Dale Waldo Landscape Architecture carries on, deep in the roots of Southern California and throughout Southern California, including Newport Beach, a landscape continues to remember, an enduring portrait of a community.
