Overview: Waterwise Contemporary Newport Beach Dale Waldo Landscape Architecture is excited to present the Waterwise Contemporary landscape located in the Heart of Newport Beach. This exciting is a perfect example of how we are marrying sustainable design with a contemporary palate. This landscape includes a combination of drought tolerant plants, native vegetation and modern hardscaping to create a functional landscape that will take less water to maintain and provide a wonderful outdoor living experience. Critical factors consisted of a smooth, penetrable paver driveway that decreases overflow matched by a sequence of properly positioned decomposed granite sidewalks that result in energised seating locations. Built on a disparate patio space gained from the previously extended house, a beautiful bespoke water feature can act as an attractive focal point and local wildlife sanctuary promoting biodiversity. This residential includes a variety of well-placed LED landscape lighting which not only demonstrates the safety of the lush greenery, but also allows the garden to shine long after the sun has gone down. The team encountered challenges along the way from the existing drainage lines to how to best configure the layout to maximise sunlight access throughout the day. With proper planning and creative designs option, we converted challenges into opportunity for improvements. The end result is a beautiful landscape that not only satisfies the client with a modern, low-maintenance garden but also refrains from eco-unfriendly practices.
